The Fort Renovations at Williams College
We are pleased to announce that A/Z Corporation and our partner Mesick Cohen Wilson Baker (MCWB) Architects have been selected as the design-build team for the Renovations to the Fort at Williams College.
This private liberal arts college is set on a 450-acre campus in Williamstown, MA, and it features more than 100 academic, athletic, and residential buildings. Among these is the Fort, a student housing facility originally constructed in 1931 of multi wythe brick over a wood frame structure. Today, Williams College plans to incorporate modern, environmentally sound design and construction practices, provide access for people of all abilities, and maintain the classic beauty and elegance of the original design.
The A/Z-MCWB team is responsible for developing and implementing a concept that will achieve these important objectives. Additionally, the College’s strong commitment to sustainability will play a lead role in the renovations. The team is currently considering a range of sustainability certification standards that may be followed as the project moves forward. Together, the collective project team is committed to ensuring that the Fort building will continue to be a hallmark of the College campus for decades to come.
