Groundbreaking at Westover Air Reserve Base

Earlier this week, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, MA for the new Regional ISO Maintenance Hangar. A/Z and Cianbro were awarded a joint-venture contract to construct a new 105,000 SF maintenance hangar which includes a full sheet-metal shop, offices, and fueling station for Government-Owned Vehicles (GOV). The new hangar will be large enough to fit a C-5M Super Galaxy, which is among the world’s largest military aircraft, stands as tall as a seven-story building, and has a 222-foot wingspan. The multi-million-dollar hangar will allow technicians to work in an indoor, state-of-the-art inspection and maintenance environment. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2023.
