Backus Hospital IR-FR Renovation

Hartford Healthcare – Backus Hospital takes great pride in the quality of services they provide the community. Interventional radiology is a rapidly growing area of medicine and the organization identified that the Interventional Radiology Suite required renovations and an expansion to support new equipment. A/Z was engaged to perform the multi-phased upgrade to the space.

The FR Procedure room and Ultrasound room were renovated during Phase 1. This included removing and reconfiguring the existing architectural layout, radiation shielding and MEP utilities. Electrical and mechanical capacity enhancements were begun during the first phase for the upgraded Siemens equipment.

The focus of Phase 2 was combing and renovating the two procedure rooms for the new IR procedure room. Capacity enhancements for electrical and mechanical systems were also completed during this phase and Siemens equipment was installed. The team worked closely with hospital staff to mitigate interference with the day to day operations of the hospital.
